RSS Expanded

RSS (Reduced Space Symbology) is a versatile barcode type now commonly referred to as DataBar. It has the following subtypes: RSS Stacked, RSS Stacked Omnidirectional, RSS Expanded, RSS Expanded Stacked, RSS Truncated, and RSS Limited.

In the US, these symbologies are often used by product manufacturers to issue grocery coupons, which customers can redeem in retail stores to receive a discount on their purchases. They can also be used to label fresh food products and loose produce after it has been weighed. RSS-14 can encode all 14 digits of a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) while taking up only half as much space as EAN codes or UPC codes. GS1 Application Identifiers enable encoding additional information like serial numbers and expiration dates.
